Kristen Porter Basu is associate director of organizational communications and outreach in the strategic communications unit at the National Collegiate Athletic Association. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in communication from the University of Illinois and a Master of Science in communication from Purdue University. Kristen is currently working towards a Ph.D. in health communication from Indiana University with an emphasis on industrial organizational psychology. She has served as an adjunct faculty member in the College of Communication at Butler University and is a frequent speaker on the topic of organizational communication.
In her current role, Kristen is responsible for day-to-day internal communications and oversees content and strategy for the intranet, digital signage and daily e-newsletter. She contributes to employment brand messaging efforts and manages the LinkedIn company page. Kristen is a member of the national office inclusion team and is on the leadership team for the women's employee resource group.
Kristen has taken a keen interest in corporate social responsibility following humanitarian trips to Ghana, Haiti and South Africa. She enjoys volunteering and mentoring in her spare time, including serving as a mentor for the Pass the Torch for Women Foundation.
